Let's Talk About Trips to New York City with Broadway Bound Metup
Meet with others in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area who enjoy attending theater on Broadway (Manhattan, New York City). Why go alone? Let's travel together, stay overnight and share the cost of lodging, socialize before and after the show. We will see plays and musicals in the local area (Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC and Baltimore). If you are interested in sharing a room in a hotel or apartment in NYC, we would like to meet you first, so plan on attending some theater events and socializing.
As facilitator of this trip, I expect to have fun with the rest of you. I facilitate sharing of lodging to make this more affordable. The trip plan takes into consideration the interests of those coming, but everyone is on their own to make their own fun and to get there. Make your own bus, train, or airlines reservations. If you want to share lodging, it is requested that you try to meet me or your roommates beforehand. At least we will talk on the phone.
Small Group. These are small group trips. That means that I look for lodging for 6 to 8 people. Then there are others who join us but who make their on lodging arrangements. Some in our group of repeat travelers (regulars) have friends or relatives to stay with in New York City.
Who Should Come, Who Should Not.
You must be physically fit, able to climb stairs and walk for hours. We do a lot of walking. You must not be afraid of getting lost; you must be able to read a map and find your own way. You should have a cell phone; that is most helpful.
Payment: When I plan a trip, I make reservations months in advance to get the best price. You must be a forward planner if you want to get in on one of these trips. These trips fill up three or four months in advance. Prefer payment of room in full as soon as you have definitely decided you will come; otherwise, a non-refundable payment of $100 is requested.
Confirmation. Do not make any reservations for tickets for yourself until you get confirmation that you have a bed in a room that I've reserved for the group. Unless, of course you are making your own hotel reservations.
Guidelines:
Leave your debit card at home; bring a credit card or two.
Bring cash for taxi fare and shared lunches. At least $100 for a weekend trip.
Do not bring valuables, especially not jewelry.
Bring comfortable tennis shoes for walking.
Suggest a backpack rather than a purse, or purse that fits into backpack.
Dress in layers. Remember, a bus can get cold.
Dress comfortably. Wear business casual to the theater and dinner.
Dark colors are recommended.
A suitcase on wheels is recommended.
Your health insurance card and of course a picture ID.
Don't forget your cell phone charger and tooth brush.
