NYC Trip (July)

The Macy’s Fireworks in New York City are arguably the official fireworks of the holiday, just as the ball dropping in Times Square officially heralds the new year. Our plan is to take the Circle Line fireworks cruise so we can enjoy the fireworks by boat. The cost was $79 last year for this evening cruise.

The departure pier is not far from where we will be staying. We can even walk there.

THIS IS A TWO NIGHT TRIP PLAN. The Fourth of July is on a Sunday this year. Arrive Saturday and depart on Monday. We will have rooms reserved at both the Red Roof Inn (2 to a room) and Hotel Grand Union (2 to 4 to a room).

Red Roof Inn, 6 West 32nd Street, NY 10001 Manhattan (New York)

Only moments from Manhattan's main attractions, this hotel features a free daily breakfast along with an on-site lobby bar and modern in-room amenities, including iPod docking stations.

Located between Broadway and Fifth Avenue, the Red Roof Inn Manhattan is close to the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden and the city's fashion district. Fabulous shopping and world-famous restaurants are also within walking distance.

Guests at the Manhattan Red Roof Inn can take advantage of the on-site 24-hour fitness center or plan the day's activities with the knowledgeable concierge services. The hotel also features free wireless Internet access.

Hotel Grand Union
I made reservations for two Quad rooms (3 beds per room) for Friday and Saturday nights. These rooms sleep a maximum of 4 people (4th person needs to bring an air mattress or camping mat). See web site for pictures of rooms and information about the hotel and location.
